Procurement and Installation of 100KVA Power Plant at Ashuku community Kurmi LGA
Taraba State Agency for Community and Social Development Project a World Bank Assisted project which was moribund for some years was brought back to life with the coming in of the present regime (the Rescue Team). The rescue team having known the importance of the project to the development of rural communities resuscitated it and it became disbursement effective on 17TH February, 2017 after fulfilling the seven criteria.
With the gracious approval and payment of Government Counterpart Cash Contribution (GCC) by His Excellency, the Agency under this periodic, has been able to implement various project sprayed across the sixteen LGAs of the State. These projects which are in accordance with the mandate of the Agency are in the areas of Education, Socio-economic, Water, Health, Transport, Electricity, Environment, Gender and Vulnerability.
The goal is to empower the poor by giving them resources and authority to initiative, plan, part-finance, implement, supervise and own their micro projects; improve partnership of Local Government Authorities with communities on human development and natural resource related projects and also build their capacities for effective service delivery.
During the implementation from 17th February, 2017 to date the Agency had achieved tremendously by delivering its services to the poor of the poorest and to have achieved this, the CSDP has sustainably increased access of the poor people to improve on social and natural resource infrastructures in eight (8) sectors of the economy.
Details of MP: Ashuku is a community in Kurmi local government area a border town linking cameroun republic, it has ndoro, ndulla, ichen speaking tribes, they are mostly farmers, petty traders and business individuals, agriculture products produce in the area include, rice, palm oil, cocoa, maize, plantains, groundnuts, fruits etc. This community had never seen rural electrification, exception of where generator is used occasionally until CSDP intervention by procurement and installation of 100KVA power plant, high tension and low tension poles linking close settlements to the power source. The community had become a source of pride to the benefiting individuals, youths can now watch television and have good information pass across in real time. Ashuku scene is beautiful at night giving the dweller hope of rural infrastructure, youths also utilized the light for gainful business like salon, social/civic centers businesses etc. Ashuku community had 794 benefiting household.
