Akwa Ibom State Agency for Community and Social Development recently held a 2 - day training for five vulnerable groups and community stakeholders. The training held in Uyo was declared open by the Commissioner, Ministry of Economic Development and Ibom Deep SeaPort, Mr. Akan Okon. He assured the participants of the State Government's resolve to develop every nook and cranny of Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking at the event, the Head of Operations, Federal Project Support Unit (FPSU), Mr. Gbadebo Fabowale, commended the performance of CSDP in the state, charging the groups to make good the skills and knowledge they have acquired at the training.
The General Manager, AKSA-CSD, Mr. Ishmael Akpan charged the participants to work as a team and to implement their life touching micro project according to agreed time-line. This will ensure timely implementation of micro projects.
At the end of the two - day training which featured paper presentation, key note addresses and signing of Financing Agreement, Akan Okon, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport presented cheques to the groups
The event had in attendance other dignitaries such as, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Multilateral and Donor Agencies Deacon NdianaAbasi Udom; Director Monitoring and Evaluation, Ministry of Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr. Otobong Sambo and Local Government heads of Service.
The groups and their micro projects are Likeminds Charity Foundation, Ikot Inuen, Oruk Anam LGA; Motorized Borehole and Extension of Electricity ; Nka Esit Kiet Vulnerable Group, Ikot Idut Ukwok, Ini LGA; Motorized Borehole and Electricity Extension and Nka Unwana Essien Enang, Ikot Inyang Osom in Etinan LGA ; Motorized Borehole and Electricity Extension. Other groups are, Mbaifun Ikot Abasi Vulnerable Group, Ini LGA; Open Market Stalls and Motorized Borehole and Renewed Life Vulnerable Group, Ikot Isong, Etinan LGA; Open Market Stalls and Motorized Borehole.
The vulnerable group members comprise widows, orphans and differently abled persons.
