Over 200 participants benefitted from the training which took place from the 30th to 31st of July 2019. A large segment of the participants were CPMC members from diverse communities in Etinan (Edem Ekpat, Ata Ikot Inyang, and Ikot Nkang), Eastern Obolo (Emeroeke, and Kampa), Essien Udim (Ikot Ekpeyong, Ekpenyong Ofum, Ukana Ikot Ekon), Okobo(Anua Ekeya), and Ini (Eyehedia) LGAs.
The training workshop was declared opened by the State Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Hon. Akan Okon.
In his speech at the occasion, Hon. Okon outlined the various ways the partnership between the administration and the CSDP has benefitted individuals and communities in Akwa Ibom State. He emphasized the government's commitment to the development of rural communities to improve their social and economic outlook.
The opening remarks at the occasion were delivered by the General Manager of Akwa State CSDP, Mr. Ishmael J. Akpan.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Akpan dwelled on the importance of such training for CPMC members and stakeholders. Apart from creating an environment for the exchange of ideas, it is also an opportunity for CSDP management and staff to meet one on one with the people responsible for making important decisions on the projects to be executed in their various communities.
The participants and stakeholders would be trained in several crucial aspects of community development. Specifically, over the course of two days, they would be instructed on basic project management, the financial aspect of projects, and proper bookkeeping.
The resource persons are also expected to deliver papers on Roles and Responsibilities of Stakeholders, Gender issues, Breach of Financing Agreement, and Grievance Redress.
