The deficit in classrooms because of insurgency is receiving attention as communities and groups benefiting from the Borno State Community and Social Development Agency are prioritizing education in the implementation of their micro projects. General Manager of Borno CSDA, Ciroma Usman has stated.

Ciroma said most communities and groups prioritized education, with building of conducive classrooms, renovation of classrooms, VIP toilets, provision of furniture, instructional materials and equipping of Laboratories. In Gasi community of Shani Local Government Area of Borno State for example, the CSDA assisted the community with classrooms which has increased enrolment and retention. Langama Vulnerable Group also benefitted   with micro projects in the education sector, a development he said the beneficiaries are very happy. (See video of students appreciating government for the project)

“Prior to the intervention by the CSDP, the pupils/students from Langama Community were studying in an unconducive, small thatched one block of two classrooms which hampers enrolment and reduces concentration while the primary school in Gasi was completely out of shape” Ciroma stated.

However, the CSDP intervention to Shani LGA, Langama has resulted in the provision of 1 block of 3 classrooms, an office and VIP Latrine. The school is also fenced to provide additional security while Gasi got 1 block of two classrooms. Borno CSDP is intervening in 13 Local Government Areas in the state and has implemented 341 micro projects.
