AKWA IBOM STATE CSDP INTERVENES IN IBAKESI IKOT UDO ASAN SCHOOL BLOCK

Education is a process that facilitates learning, acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and good  habits. It gives knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better.  This is exactly what Ikot Udo Asan community in Ini LGA is saying when it prioritizes the construction of three classrooms block as one of its micro –projects. “The choice of providing a conducive learning environment is building a secured future for our children and it is the right of every child in Ibakesi Ikot Udo Asan”, expressed by Monday Akpakpan, a Community stakeholder.

Ibakesi Ikot Udo Asan prior to Akwa Ibom State –CSDP intervention had no primary school in its community. The children in order to access education had to trek over 4kms daily traversing a terrain that is steep and slippery, and on a typical rainy day, going to school is impossible.  This is what children of school age have had to contain with until the State Government through the Community and Social Development Agency came to their rescue.

The three-classroom block constructed at the cost of N 3, 133, 140.00   by Ibakesi Community Project Management Committee has an office for the head teacher, pupils’ desks, chairs and tables for teachers and a toilet facility.

The school with over 150 pupils on its roll is accommodating pupils from Ibiaku Ntok Okpo community in Ikono LGA as well as those from   Ibakesi Ikot Udo Asan, Ikot Udo Asan and Ikot Udo Edem communities in Ini LGA.
