PSYCHOSOCIAL SENSITIZATION
Negative cultural practices and community level stigmatization have been known to fuel vulnerabilities of persons as well prevent access to resources, care and support for victims of sexual and gender based violence in several communities. It was therefore imperative for community members of Ibule soro, Akure south LGA to be sensitized on such negative norms. The sensitization activity, which was well attended provided the platform to sensitize community on Covid 19 regulations adherence, negative norms such as female genital mutilation, widowhood practices and denial of inheritance for girl-child.
The Project Officer, Gender & Vulnerable, Mrs. Olamide Falana encourage the community leaders to change cultural practices that are harmful and constitute psychosocial barriers for others. The event was well appreciated by the community members who promised to pass the knowledge gained unto others.
