The state Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq made the call at a Sustainability Workshop for selected benefiting communities organised by the State Community and Social Development Agency, in Ilorin, the state capital.
Governor Abdulrahman, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Finance and Planning, Mrs Oyeyemi Olasumbo said the importance of training exercises including enhancing skills in maintenance culture of community projects.
Speaking on cares project by the World Bank, Governor Abdulrahman said the state government has implementing agencies such as KWCSDA, FADAMA amongs other, adding that with this agencies kwara would be able to benefit positively from the project.
Earlier, the General Manager of the Agency, Engineer Amamat Oluwatoyin-Haruna described Community Driven Development as a global concept and a veritable tool for rural development, especially in kwara state.
Engineer Oluwatoyin-Haruna said the state government through the Agency has so far drawn down a total sum of 1.7 billion naira with over 1billion naira disbursed to communities and groups across the state.
According to her, the Agency need to train and sensitise the representative of communities on maintaining and sustaining projects so as to ensure the projects serve the purpose in which it is meant for.
