THE CONSTRUCTION OF CONCRETE FOOTBRIDGE, AT AKAKUMA-AMA, NEMBE, LGA, BAYELSA STATE
Akakuma-Ama Community is in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, situated in one of the riverine territories of Nembe Creeks. The rural populace livelihood is merely fishing and petty trading, but the community is naturally endowed with rich oil deposit. Akakuma-Ama community is known to be one of the oil rich community in Nembe LGA with little or no meaningful development. The community, been situated along the coaster line leading to the high sea, is faced with little creeks cutting across and within the community thereby restricting movement within the community freely. It was on this predicament that the community leaders cued into opportunity provided by the Bayelsa State CSDP intervention and has since implement successful a mini concrete footbridge that linked one part of the community to another. Since the completion and functionality of the project, members of the community freely move from one end to another end of the community with easy, thereby reducing the time/distance spent accessing one end of the community to another.
